they were friends before the first movie started filming iirc but not then. i think* there were many moments during the filming where they were like damn ur hot oh wait, but probably nothing happened. (altho that one time after that scene — the one where zq has to get hugely fuckin emotional and kirk gets choked and cfine is accidentally aroused) someone mentioned to cfine that zq looked ~off and cfine misunderstood and thought maybe zq was equally accidentally aroused and he goes over and instead zq is just like in his trailer listening to yoga music trying to chill it out so they get drunk and neither of them is really sure what happened but cfine had something on the side of his neck the next day that might’ve been a hickey or it might’ve been accidental bruising from the choking scene.
and then the press tour happened and they made out a lot
